Info from Dias: “The Scotiabank Hockey Night (Hockey Night In Canada) enters its milestone 60th regular season as the longest running and most influential program in Canadian television history. A generation has grown up with it and brings about a sense of a 50 year tradition and pride in all Canadians.
“The intent of the design was to bring a feeling of tradition and patriotism to the show. It’s meant to be the biggest and most important show in Canada, feel very modern and contemporary but represent itself as traditional moment.“The challenges of the design was to make it feel Canadian. Each attempt to scale up the sets and structures made it look ‘SuperBowl’ or American looking. We featured modern Canadian cities and landmarks and tried not to be overly in your face with them. We also subtly used very nicely treated Canadian flags and the maple leaf occurrences without it looking cheezy or like a government PSA.“I think we managed to maintain and even dial up the cool factor, Our in house inspirational tag line for this project being = ‘‘It doesn’t get any bigger than this!’”
